Barbara at March House Books awarded me and a few other
lucky bloggers The Very Inspiring Blogger Award and though she didn't say I had
to pass it on, I know that a good blogger will try to pay it forward when they
have a chance. Right now, I have so many things on my proverbial plate that it
only made sense to spread the love. After all, it is a Very Inspiring Blogger
Award and lately I've been very inspired by many incredible online
blogger friends who are changing the world one book at a time!
I’m supposed to start by mentioning seven things—hopefully inspiring
things—about myself.
I’m supposed to nominate other bloggers, link to them and
notify them and that’s it. Simple.
So here are seven
things about me.
1. I love Frito's. Especially the ones shaped like scoops. This
is not that inspiring but after checking out the ingredients, I was truly
impressed. They only contain corn, corn oil and salt while other chips have a
huge paragraph describing the contents and preservatives.
The length of the spoon helps me get down into the bottom of
the jar easier. I think they need to make a macadamia nut Nutella too. I mean
hazelnut is great, but if we’re going for fatty nuts, might as well go for the Grail. Plus I could promote it with my new book about Hawaii.
3. Recently released my first full-length novel on Kindle. It’s
called Penniless Hearts and if you
love reading adventures that take place on tropical islands, you might love my
book. If you like writing reviews, well who knows, maybe you’ll inspire others to
read it too! The paperback is coming to Amazon soon.
4. My first professional,
writing assignment was in my twenties and it involved writing restaurant
reviews. I had my own column and everything until a new publisher read my
resume and found out I had a background in sales too. Guess where I ended up
for over 25 years? Yup, the advertising department.
5. So of course, I stuck to short poems. Who has time to write
with a full time job full of deadlines and demanding customers? [Sorry
customers. You were kind of demanding.] Here’s an example of something short written
in 1980. I called this poem “Father Sun.”
“Spring…the birth of
the year dawns green leaves into blossoms--
Screaming
color to the approaching summer.”
6. I have a story coming out in Anything Prose and PoetryToo on March 1st. Watch for it because I think you’ll love the
stories. They sound fascinating and truly creative. My story is titled The Escape and I hope you get a chance
to read it!
7.My dog is insane. Incredibly cute but certifiable. Right now she's licking the spilled shampoo in the shower. I think she'll be farting bubbles soon.
There you have it. Seven things about me.
Now I’d like to nominate the incredible Shelly Arkon who just
released her novel Secondhand Shoes.Check her blog here. She’s quite an
inspiration. I think she’s already started her third novel and trust me when I
say she has her hands full of loving grand-kids, her job, her sweet husband, adorable doggies and
more! I don’t know how she does it!
I also want to nominate Parsnip for having a cute blog that
gets our mind off the stress of publishing. She's mom to two of the cutest Scotties ever and she makes far off places sound very inviting.
Read her enjoyable and inspirational blog by clicking here.
The funny Diane Carlisle at Are We There Yet? has followed me for a long while and she inspires me with writing exercises and humor. Find her here. There's something very real and entertaining about her posts. She also has a lot of published stories.
I also want to nominate Carla White from The Water's Edge. Carla is like the young woman Julia in that movie about Julia Child. She cooks, bakes and writes delicious stories on her blog that are good enough to eat. Very inspiring because of all the effort she puts forth in homemade goodies that are sure to make you drool.
Thanks again Barbara for giving me this opportunity to pass the award to other deserving blogs.
Tell me about your favorites. Which blog do think is VERY INSPIRING?

Congratulations on the award and the upcoming story!
ReplyDeleteSo which was more enjoyable - the restaurant reviews or advertising?
That's kind of a toss up for various reasons.
DeleteThank you, Eve! Taking this and running with it. :D
ReplyDeleteBTW, I really enjoyed Front Page Kiss. It was a refreshing read and I enjoyed reading about a woman who makes the first move. lol
Yeah, I can't believe I wrote that!
DeleteNutella is of course one of life's great pleasures!
ReplyDeleteAnd Fiona is such a cutie...
Fiona is a juvenile doglinquent.
DeleteI love frito scoops too. Any food shaped like a scoop works for me. Yeah, dogs are certifiable. That's why cats think cats rule. Get some pics of those bubbles!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could get some pictures. Wouldn't that be funny?
DeleteYou are very nice to nominate me.
ReplyDeleteI usually don't do these who are you type of post. But I did one when I first started to blog. Instead of naming seven thing I liked I did one on how I changed my life after my x walked out....
But what ever I post it will have to follow The Square Dog Friday post. It is in their contract
1. chikin' strip
2. Friday post
3. chikin' strips
cheers, parsnip
Chikin' Strips are crucial. I understand Parsnip.
DeleteThank you, Evie, Congrats to Parsnip!
ReplyDeleteMaybe licking shampoo is more sanitary than licking dog butts. She's a girl fur peep. They have to be different than boy fur peeps. And I don't know how I do it either. I'm ready to got to bed now.
Hugs and chocolate,
Shelly
I'm sure every day is exhausting when you're Shelly Arkon. Hugs to you too and chocolate of course.
DeleteDarn, you mentioned Nutella when I have none in the cupboard! *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI often eat a spoonful of Nutella when I am craving something chocolatey and there's nothing else in the house.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nod, Eve! :) I'll try to blog it forward.
As a fellow Nutella lover and a fan of Penniless Hearts, I applaud you, Evie! And as a follower of the bloggers you selected, I think they're excellent choices!
ReplyDeleteI love fritos and nutella too. I only buy the nutella snacks. I'm afraid if I bought a whole jar of it, I would just stand at the pantry eating it until it was gone.
ReplyDeleteI've been a vegetarian for around six years, but I decided to give meat a try. One of the first things I wanted was a frito burrito at Taco Bell....sadly, they don't have them. :(
Congratulations on all your new releases!
Great post, Eve! Congratulations on all of your success! I'm thankful to have met you and to have had the chance to work with you on Anything Prose...and Poetry, Too! Keep shining. :)
ReplyDelete~Melissa
Your little dog is so adorable! Most of our dog’s hated water, but Patch (a King Charles spaniel) would hop right into the shower with me. Nutella sandwiches are yummy. I've never tried a Frito, but they sound good! Thanks for passing the award along.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new book and blog award. I like Frito's, too.
ReplyDeletethanks for share...
