Oneness

Have you ever wondered about patterns weaving everything together? Clouds, atoms and meadows blend with tears, laughter and the noise of traffic. The braying of sheep swirls around a quiet expanse of green and mixes with the sound of children playing, fire trucks scream and the wind whispers through the tall trees to remind us of home—a place where everything happens at once.

Spent a week in a waiting room, possibly hallucinating but the more I stared at the carpet and prayed, the more it began looking like our planet. My mind put together little bridges, freeways and forests right there on the filthy commercial carpet.

Obviously, I needed some rest because the carpet looked something like this….

But I saw something like this:

We are like giants standing on a
Google Map of our lives.

Another lovely tile? No, our gorgeous Earth!

Dramatic granite counter or bathroom tile? No, it's a map.

This is carpeting. Stare at it long enough and you might see my point.
Do we construct our life in the loom of our heart?

  1. Yes we do !
I see things as I have mentioned before and I too "see" life in the most strange items.
I hope all is better or at lest resolved.
I am keeping you in my heart.

    cheers, parsnip

  3. Well said, Eve. I hope things are going well.

And I'm staring at the paint textures behind the computer monitor....

  4. It is interesting, the way images seem to appear in things like carpeting...and clouds....

I saw faces in the bathroom tiles where we used to live.

    Hope all is well now....

  5. I've seen shapes and faces in clouds before and in trees when I stare at them. It is very interesting. Can't help but wonder if we want to see familiar things.
    Eve, praying all is well.

  6. Sending good wishes your way!

I always see patterns inside of other textures, so I can understand how you were able to visualize a map in the carpet. It is amazing what you notice and see when you stare at something long enough.

  7. Interesting thoughts, Eve, and things can definitely start melding together when you stare at them long enough.

    Hope all is okay.

  10. Hey Eve, hope everything is well with you. I haven't been on blogger for a bit, from the tone of the comments I suspect something's going on, and I hope it, and you, are all better now! I've given you an award over on my blog. And, I do see entire worlds in a piece of tile! It's refreshing to know that I'm not the only one. :)

  11. Eve can you give us an update on how your brother is doing? A lot of people are praying for you and your family. Maybe you saw that other world in the carpet because you wanted to be escape from your situation in the waiting room if even for a little while.

  12. The second photo looks like Pokemon Red on the DS.

    :)

I see patterns all the time and anymore, I think in pixels!

  13. My bathroom tiles are full of faces – no honestly! They are the kind of tiles with lots of raised bits, and if you take a piece of paper and a pencil and rub over the tiles (like brass rubbing) you can actually recreate the faces on paper.
    I hope all is well.

  14. The brain is a wondeful thing. Pareidolia. Reminds me of finding Jesus' face on toast or a tree trunk.
