Summer's End

Even here in the desert,
The leaves slowly change,
Migrations occur,
Butterflies scatter like seeds
Taking flight,
Landing, but moving on.
Even here our ever-present sun
Tilts and summer blows into fall.
No, No, we want to swim,
We want to dance,
We want the carefree, careless celebration
To continue.
Accept the reality,
The shadows
Lure us out into peaking slats of warmth,
Shorter now.
Fill your cup.
Hide it in your heart.
Even here the summer ends.
