Summer is a great time to catch up on your reading and I've just plowed through a few entertaining options. First of all, I don't read bestsellers until they have aged a bit for some reason and I can usually pick the ones they eventually make into movies. I read The Reader way before they made it into a movie, and The Time Traveler's Wife was another one I read a good year before I heard it was going to be a movie. Currently, I'm reading Beautiful Lies by Lisa Unger and so far it's exciting and the plot takes place in New York. Last week I read Here on Earth, by Alice Hoffman which was very well written but a bit sad about a childhood love in Massachusetts that turns into very adult fiction. I enjoyed Debbie MacComber's Mrs. Miracle and thought it would make a cute Hallmark movie which it is, though I've not seen it.
The most literary book of the bunch this month was Five Quarters of The Orange, by Joanne Harris the lady who wrote Chocolat, one of my favorite movies.
So grab your book and head out to the pool for a great summer read.

Just because you didn't hear it buzz doesn't mean it didn't land on your nose.
